Read Attack on Titan

The story of Attack on Titan focuses on a civilization inside three circular walls. According to locally disseminated information, this is the last surviving relic of human civilization. Its inhabitants, known as the Eldians, have been led to believe that one hundred years ago, humanity was brought to the brink of extinction following the emergence of human-like giants called the Titans, who attacked humans on sight. They used to attack and eat.

The last remnants of humanity retreated behind three concentric walls and enjoyed peace for almost a century. Within the walls, the idea of venturing out is strongly frowned upon and discouraged. To combat the Titans, the country's military uses vertical maneuvering equipment (VME), also known as omni-directional maneuvering gear (ODM gear): a set of waist-mounted grappling hooks and gas-powered propulsion that Enables mobility in three dimensions. Swords made of ultrahard steel were used with gears and eventually rocket launcher-like weapons called Thunder Spears were developed.

There are different types of Titans. Pure Titans are the weakest and most common, with their behavior easy to predict, making them easy to kill. Uncommon Titans are pure Titans whose behavior is more difficult to predict, making them far more dangerous.

The nine Titans, also known as the Titan Shifters (Attack, Giant, Armored, Woman, Beast, Jaws, Cart, War Hammer and Founder), are the strongest Titans; Each is able to switch back and forth between human and Titan forms to access their Titan abilities. Many Titan Shifters have the ability to harden parts of their bodies at will, usually to make them virtually invulnerable, or to strengthen their blows during combat.

Pure Titans are created by injecting Eldians with Titan spinal fluid. If a pure Titan eats the human body of someone who possesses one of the nine Titans, the Eldian will revert to human form and gain the powers of that shifter, after which they will only live another 13 years. Would be cursed for. If their powers are not inherited by another Eldian before their death, their powers will be inherited by an Eldian child born immediately thereafter, regardless of distance or blood-relations. As the story progresses, the true nature of the Titans and the existence of civilization outside the walls is revealed.

About

Centuries ago, mankind was slaughtered to near extinction by monstrous humanoid creatures called Titans, forcing humans to hide in fear behind enormous concentric walls. What makes these giants truly terrifying is that their taste for human flesh is not born out of hunger but what appears to be out of pleasure.

To ensure their survival, the remnants of humanity began living within defensive barriers, resulting in one hundred years without a single titan encounter. However, that fragile calm is soon shattered when a colossal Titan manages to breach the supposedly impregnable outer wall, reigniting the fight for survival against the man-eating abominations.

Rumours...

If it’s anything like the manga (which it was always going to be, don’t kid yourselves), it’s a thematically fitting ending with sloppy execution. I get the general gist of what the author was trying to say at the final stretch, but WOW did he not know how to properly express it.

Yeah, I would mostly agree with that it probably needed a couple more chapters to fully properly flesh out the ending. I wouldn't be surprised if Isayama decided to kinda rush the ending to make the anime staff's lives less hell (especially Mappa animators need that) and he probably saw how GoT's ending turned out when the shows staff had to make their own ending (which he publicly criticised) so he thought it was just better to get it done quickly as possible.

My theory after reading the Manga is that Isayama wanted to finish the "Act 2" of AoT in exactly 69 chapter because "Act 1" took 69 chapters.

Act 1 being the Fall of Shiganshina -> Historia kills the Crawling Titan in chapter 69, and Act 2 being Return to Shiganshina -> Armin/Mikasa kills the guy in chapter 138. A lot of scenes and major story-beats mirror each other between the two acts.

I would say this was Isayama's way of avoiding the trap of "accidentally writing too much and never finishing" that so many other authors fall into, by simply setting a deadline.

kind of an early post considering official subs don´t come out for a decent while still. So you re probably only gonna get manga readers here.

He didn't do that. Only Ymir had the power to do that, and she only did it because of Mikasa's actions.
